A brief intro regarding the role of Putera MIC

Sunday 4 May 2014
We have received a few comments on our Facebook page questioning/condemning PuteraMIC for not helping the Indian community in general and also on how we deal with "stiff competition" from other parties similar to ours.

Here is a brief explanation about PuteraMIC's role for those who are unaware.

Firstly, it has to be stressed that PuteraMIC deals mainly with students. As such, most of our efforts and events are focused on this target group. Our aim is to ensure all Indian students are equipped with proper education and skills to prepare them for their working life.

With regards to stiff competition from other bodies, associations and organizations, we do not see anyone as ‘competition’. We are here in PuteraMIC for a purpose, and we try to work hard to achieve our purpose together with our vision and mission. In fact, we welcome all bodies, associations and organizations who have the intention to help and uplift our Indian community.

Please do take a look at our Facebook posts and albums to see the events and activities that we have done so far. We assure you that we will be doing more in the future for the benefit of Indian students.

Thank you.

Regards,
Dineshwaran T Rajagopalu, Secretary General, PuteraMIC

Statement and response to Mr. Sharmasubra Maniam (Facebook)

Thank you Sir for your deep interest in PuteraMIC. Please allow me to clarify a few things to you and to everyone else who have any questions/doubts on our main committee appointment.

Firstly, when we say the appointments have been duly endorsed by the party president, we mean it in every sense of the word. Datuk Seri G Palanivel has personall...y vetted the list and given his approval on each appointment. Any comment about how he ‘does not have the time to check in detail’ is indirectly accusing the party president of not taking his job seriously.

Secondly, let me briefly tell you about our selection criteria for posts in PuteraMIC. We look for individuals who are truly passionate and who share the common goal of PuteraMIC which is to serve the community. Literacy is a necessity but not a college degree. We look for someone who has good communication skills, who can take good decisions, who can empathise with the plight and difficulties faced by the community and find effective solutions, who has a vision for the future, who loves Malaysia and wants the best for her and is devoted to the party. We want honesty, integrity, high commitment and good performance. Do you need a college degree to demonstrate such qualities? NO. Our image is our performance, NOT the qualification of our members.

I’m particularly intrigued by your statement on why we have appointed someone with ‘no credibility’ as our National Information Chief. It baffles me that you can somehow link the absence of a college degree to someone being not trustworthy. I also wonder how the Late Mr. K. Kamraj, Mr. Karunanidhi, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (these are just 2 examples, there are many more), despite having no college degree, yet still managed to lead the state well. I also have no idea how our decision to appoint Mr. S. Yogendran will “hurt other graduates” as this very person has constantly fought for the rights of Malaysian Indian students.

I don’t usually respond to such remarks but I feel there is a need to make ourselves clear once and for all that we WILL NOT in any circumstance tolerate others belittling our members. It is a shame the same people whom we tirelessly fight for take pleasure in criticizing us at every given opportunity. We welcome sound criticisms on our PERFORMACE ONLY because that is how we can improve ourselves, but we will not respond anymore to unnecessary personal level criticism.

Regards,
R. Dineshwaran
Secretary General, PuteraMIC National

My view on the assault of YB.P.Kamalanathan

Friday 17 January 2014
http://anotherbrickinwall.blogspot.com/2014/01/kamalanathan-punched-by-incompetence.html

Thank you to the author for explaining the procedure of school transfer in order for everyone to have a better understanding on the issue.

I would like to address some of the issues raised in the comments posted in the above article.

The assault on YB P Kamalanathan should be looked at the way it is : an individual assaulting another person. This is not about a Malay going against an Indian, this is about the prompt and right action being taken against the conduct of the person who punched another, in this case, the teacher who punched YB P Kamalanathan. Let us refrain from associating this issue with racism and divert from the original issue.

With regards to the allegation that YB mainly helps Indians in his constituency, please take note that Hulu Selangor is a Malay majority area and YB has been the elected representative there for 2 terms. This is proof enough about his service, his caliber and the trust people have in him to fight for their rights. I am not blindly supporting YB but I know for a fact that YB is not the type of person to prioritize one race over another. Is this how one shows respect to their leader? Both the teacher and YB are members of Barisan Nasional. What example are we setting to others? This was not just a punch to YB, it is a punch to our party. How do we expect people to respect our leaders when our own people act in such a way?

As to the statement that with his words and action, YB provoked the person to assault him, there is one question to be asked. Is this how we Malaysians behave? Mere words can enrage us so much that we are capable of hurting others? Where has the sense of respect gone? This has indirectly tarnished the good name teachers have. The accused is a teacher, and in the teaching profession, one will encounter many incidents that tantamount to worse forms of provocation than this. If a student were to provoke him, would he then react the same way? One cannot go punching others just to get things done their way.
Violence is NEVER a solution for any problem.

As the writer stressed, there are many applications for transfer received by the Ministry and there are strict procedures to be followed. If the Ministry is lenient to one person, all others will then expect the same treatment for themselves. It is not that the Ministry doesn’t take everyone’s request into consideration but is impossible to make everyone happy.  It is to be remembered, being a teacher is a noble job. To educate the future leaders of this country, there are certain sacrifices to be made and I am sure every teacher is aware of this even before they graduate. Let us also not forget the effort and work that YB has been doing to improve the standard of education in this country in the short time he has been appointed as the Deputy Education Minister

It is to be stressed here that the issue here is not about who is right and who is wrong. It is about justice. A wrongdoer has to be punished, it is as simple as that. Let this incident be a deterrent and lesson to others.
