07.03.2016 - ANIMAL WELFARE SPECIAL ALLOCATION REQUEST

One of the causes I’m most passionate about is animal rights. I love helping people, but it’s important and necessary to be the voice of the ‘voiceless’ who have nothing but love for us humans in their heart.
Being a pet owner myself and constantly seeing and reading about condition of domestic animals in Malaysia especially strays, shelter homes lacking necessary funds, animal abuse, inhumane breeders and pet shop owners – I always feel I should be doing something significant to help change the situation in Malaysia.
Upon brainstorming and with some valuable input from Mr. Ramesh Rao Krishnan Naidu (PMSP), I have come up with several suggestions which was communicated in writing to YB Dato’ Sri Shabery Cheek , our Agriculture & Agro-Based Industry Minister with full support from Mr. Ramesh Rao Krishnan Naidu . Some of the suggestions include fixed allowance for animal shelters, free medical check-up and medication, free spaying services for strays, 24hour veterinary clinics, 24hour veterinary helpline services.
YB Dato’ Sri’s office have graciously looked into the suggestions made and have forwarded the same to the Head of Veterinary Services of the Ministry for his further action.
I am extremely pleased by the prompt response of the Ministry and look forward to the implementation of all the above suggestions which will hopefully be a great start in the improvement of the animal welfare situation in Malaysia.
