24.01.2015 - NETBOOK PRESENTATION TO UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS

Sunday 15 February 2015
On 24th January 2015, Putera MIC Bahagian Rasah under my leadership held a ceremony to present Netbooks to 50 students from low income families. This program was done with the support of Putera MIC Negeri Sembilan and Student Affairs Bureau of Putera MIC National.

There were 175 students from Negeri Sembilan who successfully obtained placement in public universities for the 2014 September intake, out of which 50 students from low income families and with excellent academic and extracurricular performance were selected.

This is supplementary to the financial aid of RM500-RM1000 given to the said students by YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan, MB of Negeri Sembilan.

Putera MIC’s initiative is aimed to help financially disadvantaged students to enhance their learning process in addition to motivating them to perform well in their studies.

This program is the brainchild of the my father, Late Dato’ T Rajagopalu, who annually awarded underprivileged UPSR and SPM top scorers with laptops as an encouragement and token for their hard work and success.

10.02.2015 - PONGGAL CELEBRATION BY MAKKAL OSAI

Saturday 14 February 2015

On 10th February 2015, I was invited to launch the Cultural Celebration jointly organized by Makkal Osai, Port Dickson Polytechnic supported by Putera MIC Teluk Kemang. This interesting event is the brainchild of Mr.Kalai from Makal Osai and has been held annually for the past 3 years. There are currently around 600 Indian students pursuing their higher education in Port Dickson Polytechnic.

This event was a great success as it was participated by all races in line with the 1Malaysia spirit. There was also a Kolam competition participated by students of all races. This was an experience for all other races who learnt more about Indian culture and a great chance for everyone to interact with each other to forge a closer bond.

The Ponggal Cultural Celebration is a two day event, wherein there will be Tamil language debate, talks and many other interesting programs tomorrow. Winners of all competitions will receive prizes and hampers.

Below are some pictures from the event :

I would like to convey my gratitude to the Director and Deputy Director of Port Dickson Polytechnic; Mechanical Engineering lecturers, Mr.Dinesh Kumar and Mr. Denesh; Mr.Pravin, Deputy Chief of Putera MIC Negeri Sembilan and Mr.Sargunan, Chief of Putera MIC Teluk Kemang for all their support, contribution and assistance in ensuring this program was a big success.

It is heartwarming to see how passionate the organisers of this event are to promote our Indian culture to all Malaysians. I sincerely hope many of such events are continuously held in the future in all other institutions of higher learning.
