Part of my speech message at the kick start of #saysomethingnice event :-
During my meeting with
Mr.Anas, he explained the idea behind #saysomethingnice which is to encourage
Malaysians to do their part in healing the nation with the simple act of saying
something nice. The 17 days between Merdeka and Malaysia Day is perfect as a
time of truce and a great way to showcase the Malaysia we love in a positive
light.
At Putera MIC, we have always
strived to promote unity and patriotism amongst Malaysians. Every year, we
distribute Malaysia flags to the public and encourage them to proudly display
it at their homes and offices. Our 'Kibarkan Jalur Gemilang' campaign is aimed
to unite all Malaysians through our mutual love for our beloved country. We also educate the public about the struggle
to obtain independance and importance of preserving our biggest quality and
uniqueness - which is our unity and diversity.
Last year, I launched
'Project Hope' under my Putera MIC Rasah Division which is a series of initiatives done with the simple aim of
doing good and putting a smile on people's face. Through this, we hope to
spread the joy of giving and helping to others and further encourage them to do
the same. Slowly but surely, we intend to create an impact on the society and
to show that Putera MIC truly cares for the community. To date, we have done
many programs under 'Project Hope', the latest being helping a poor family in
Negeri Sembilan to paint their house, buying household necessities and
groceries for them in addition to helping them obtain aid from the welfare
department. We are also focusing on youth empowerment and are looking into the
area of animal welfare. We are often tipped by members of the public about
people in need and always try our best to help them.
I believe #saysomethingnice
campaign couldn't have come at a better time. We have been through rough times
lately and all we need is a reminder about what is it about Malaysia and her people
that we love so much. It is the right time to spread love, kindness and
positivity.
I applaud the team of
#saysomethingnice for such a brilliant idea. I pledge full support from my team and certainly do hope all Malaysians will take part in this
campaign.
Let's make this a great new
beginning for unity in Malaysia.
